This was a great idea.
I think we only needed to elec. tape the ends of the cable that were trimmed back to get the coupling on the inner cable.
I taped it all and had to cut the tape off the coupling, and it worked perfectly, just take it easy pulling the new cable thru.
it worked so well we are about to do a Sumner 2118 18' crank jack the same way and reuse the coupling. !!!
