Symptoms

1675:31 ENGINE STARTER MODE OVERCRANK PROTECTION

Possible Causes

The key has been held in the start position for 30 seconds.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Turn the key to the ignition position for two and a half minutes without trying to start the engine.

A. After that time, the fault code will usually remain displayed but the ECU has reset the starter lockout system.

2. Turn the key to the start position being careful not to crank the machine more that 25 seconds.

A. If it does not start, make sure the key is turned all the way off before trying to start the engine again. This keeps the ECU from possibly continuing to count crank cycle seconds and locking out the starter again.

B. Continue to crank the engine without exceeding the allowed crank time until the engine starts. The fault code will clear after the engine has started.

3. If the fault code does not clear after the engine is started, shut the engine down and restart the engine and allow the engine to run for one minute. The code should be cleared at this time.
